Celebrating Fifty Years

In 1973, Patrick Langone opened The Optical House at 446 Main Street in Wakefield. Initially a one-person operation. Patrick already had many years of optical experience and very quickly had many local doctors referring patients for eyeglasses and cataract lenses. He soon built a reputation with his knowledge and expertise of optical goods and services.

In 1989, Dr. Peter Violette acquired an optometry practice on Albion Street in Wakefield. Prior to opening his own practice, Peter had several years of experience in private practice in Maine as well as at Harvard Community Health Plan.

In 1994, Dr. Violette moved his practice to The Optical House. This was the beginning of a partnership between Patrick Langone and Dr. Violette that continues to this day.

In 2007, the office relocated to the present location at 333 North Avenue in Wakefield and become Dr. Peter J Violette, O.D., P.C. doing business as The Optical House.

Our Team Today

Our office has always prided ourselves on having an amazing staff who treats everyone as they should be treated.

While Patrick Langone began his retirement in 2019, relocating to Sun City Hilton Head in South Carolina, he remains involved in the back-office operations of The Optical House.

Dr. Violette remains a full-time partner and continues to see patients every week.

Nick Violette, a Registered Optician and partner, started with The Optical House in 2010 as a summer employee. Nick graduated from Emmanuel College with a business degree. Following his graduation, under the supervision of Patrick Langone who is a Certified American Board Master Optician and a Licensed Dispensing Optician in Massachusetts completed his optical apprenticeship. After he passed the state boards, he became a Licensed Dispensing Optician in Massachusetts. In addition to seeing patients, Nick does most of the eyewear buying for the office and has a keen eye for the latest fashion and styles.

Sandra Dickey has been with us for over 25 years, starting at the front desk and now serving as the office manager and our insurance expert. In addition to those duties, Sandy is our office ambassador representing The Optical House at various events.

Kate Mitchell Olson has been with us since October 2019. She has been in the optical industry many years and is also a Massachusetts Licensed Dispensing Optician. She has worked at Children's Hospital, in commercial settings and also in her own practice.

Priscilla Pinho is our newest member and handles the front desk duties as well as pre-testing for optometry appointments. She is often the first voice you hear when you call the office.

Beyond 2023

Entering our 50th year, we will continue to serve the north shore area with the best ophthalmic care and the latest in equipment and quality products.
